Barry Ryan: Brace for the Obscure (60s rock)! — January 12, 2022

317) Barry Ryan — “Colour of Your Love”

Another knockout performance by Barry of another fabulous Paul Ryan composition, from his ’69 album of his brother’s songs (see #88, 264-66). It was released as an A-side in Germany and hit #25. We miss you, Barry.

“Her hair was the color of the sun, was the color of her eyes, was the color of my own true love. Her hair was the color of the sun, was the color of her eyes, was the color of my only love. Love maker make me the love song to sing. I’m in the right, she is wrong and she knows. I love her. (chorus: he’s in love and it shows). I want her love but she won’t let me in. When I see her I think: who’s fooling who? (chorus: she loves you too). . . . Maybe I’m wrong, but I know I won’t give in. I play her game and I hope she won’t lose (chorus: you’ll be the one that she’ll choose). Love maker make me a love song to sing. I’ll wait for her and I know she’ll be there (chorus: she knows you care). I know she cares. Her hair was the color of the sun, was the color of her eyes, was the color of my only love. I love her. . . .”

Here is some cool “performance” footage from ’69:
