Sixties Garage Punk tells us:
The sea of reverberated “Ooh, ooh, oooh, oooohs!” paired with the relentless pulsation of a Farfisa organ . . . is textbook ’60s Garage Rock 101. Perhaps that’s why the 1967 Fenton single . . . with the soft ballad [A-side] “I’m Just a Guy,” is considered one of the label’s classic releases.
As to the Legends — Ray Vasquez (keyboards/vocals), Scott Hamberg (guitar), Andy Fierro (bass), John Bertalan (drummer) — Back from the Grave tells us:
The Legends were a group of Holland, Michigan teens that formed in ’64 and began playing all over western Michigan high school dances after getting their big break by winning the Holland Battle of the Bands in ’65. They recorded this in early ’65, but the record label, Fenton, didn’t release it til 1967, long after the group had split up.

However, Sixties Garage Punk says the song was recorded in ’66 — “right as the outfit was disbanding.”
