The Six Deep — “Girl, It’s Over”: Brace for the Obscure (60s rock)! — July 2, 2026

THE GREATEST SONGS OF THE 1960s THAT NO ONE HAS EVER HEARD

2,024) The Six Deep — “Girl, It’s Over”

Boy does boy tell girl it’s over — a classic snarling garage kiss off song. “I like how he tells her off! Teen love at its best!” (HemiVic, https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=d9-jPRjM8kc&list=RDd9-jPRjM8kc&start_radio=1&pp=ygUcVGhlIHNpeCBkZWVwIGdpcmwsIGl0J3Mgb3ZlcqAHAQ%3D%3D&ra=m) Indeed. From Beaumont, here is “one of my favorite Texas records of all time . . . . [with] a cutting quality to the vocals and guitars that epitomizes the best in garage music.” (Chris Bishop, https://garagehangover.com/sixdeep/)

In 2007, Bassist Bob Welch recalled the times fondly:

[Singer and guitarist] Ken [Hitchcock, who wrote “Girl, It’s Over”,] and [guitarist] David [Everett] are still two of my dearest friends. . . our time as bandmates was too brief, but the friendships have endured, in part due to the intensity of the experience we had together and the joy we shared performing and drafting on the magic that was the mid-60’s.
