I can see this propulsive and exhilarating “mod-influenced 45” being a big hit a few years earlier — it indeed “sounded rather dated by 1968.” (Vernon Joynson, The Tapestry of Delights Revisited) But as anachronisms go, it is pretty ace.

Vernon Joynson tells us of the Act:

An Essex-based beat group who were signed to Columbia for whom they recorded three 45s. None of them made much impression and they split in 1968 after being dropped by the label.. . . . Game Showbiz personality Kenny Lynch took them under his own wing.
